Tiffany Sankofa, MS, LCPC
I created Sankofa/Continuum Counseling Services as a place for people to safely pursue healing and wholeness. In collaboration with other providers, Sankofa/Continuum Counseling Services is designed to provide you with the resources and support you need to take hold of the infinite potential of your unique life. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and have been in clinical practice since 1999. I earned an M.S. in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College in Maryland, (now Loyola University.)
I have experience as a Bereavement Coordinator in a hospice setting, a Pastoral Counselor in a holistic care ministry center, a therapist in private practice, the director of an adult psychiatric rehabilitation program, an Evaluation Specialist and Therapist for the Thrive Center for ADHD and Comprehensive Care, and as a School-Based Mental Health Therapist through Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore, working with children in chronically traumatic, severely impoverished neighborhoods. I have experience with clients from toddlerdom through the elder years, coming from a vast array of different cultures, ethnicities, and life-perspectives.
I believe in treating the whole person. We are whole beings; body, mind and soul. When one part suffers, our whole being suffers. Likewise, the strengths that we find in abundance in the body, the mind, or the spirit provide great resources for healing for the other parts. I believe in the importance of cultivating and sustaining hope, looking courageously at truth, and working within a grace context that respects each individual’s spiritual journey. All people, regardless of wounds and obstacles, can thrive, given the right tools and support. It is my goal to assist you on your journey to wholeness and thriving.
Dr. Dante (short for, “Andante,”) is an integral part of my treatment team. Whether reminding people of the importance of play, setting people at ease, or just lightening an intense moment, Dante has a unique effect with clients.
Dante is an 9-year-old rescued Lhasapoo. As such he is non-shedding and very low- to no-allergen. He is quiet and well behaved. However, if you kick a squeak toy for him, he will love you forever.
